When did I start dreaming? Definitely not the day that I met Faye Webster, but that would’ve been so cool for this article.

Singer Maye opened the stage for Webster. While I did not feel like her vibe fit the scene, her performance was a wonderful display of talent. She was able to seamlessly play the guitar while singing in both English and Spanish. I think it is interesting Webster chose this opener given their difference in lyrics, sound, genre, and overall tone.

However, it is undeniable that Webster’s lyrics set any listener into an introspective trance. If you claim it is, in fact, deniable, I would ask that you give the trance a try. As I stood before her, I could not help but apply her words and, involuntarily, feelings to my life. Her intricate, intimate, and vulnerable takes on her love for her partner were once probing thoughts within my own relationships.

I would quiet down if that’s what they wanted. Not that I’ve paid attention, but they haven’t said *it* out loud. Did they ever love me?

The same incessant questioning and apprehension have been a standard within my current relationship. Overthinking, doubt, and vulnerability are all normal. They are raw and human. Webster’s vulnerability in lyrics and corresponding physical movements on stage both serve as reminders of the involuntary takeover these emotions cause.

Unabashed love was all around for her during this show. As she brought out her brother, friends playing yoyo tricks, and even with a small intermission for a Pokémon song, I felt the love; There was love all around, not just within a relationship (although admittedly that is all you hear in her album). Showcasing to a room full of lovers of her music displayed just how much vulnerability she is capable of.

At the end of the show, much like the end of her performance, there is love. An ever-resounding feeling and affirmation of love. The tumultuous internal battle of mixed feelings always culminates in the answer of love.

Faye Webster is a lover. A lover of friends, family, yoyos, and everything surrounding.
