11pm at Flog Gnaw

You’ve seen all those tweets, sympathizing poor millionaire Drake, shitting on the Flog Gnaw crowd, and the future Drake lyrics which are definitely gonna be on his upcoming album, but the night didn’t quite go how many people think it did. So, here’s what happened:

Tyler, the Creator: Can I bring out some friends?

Crowd: *cheers*

(A$AP Rocky comes out)

Crowd=lit

Does two songs then leaves.

Tyler: Can I bring out another friend? 

Crowd: *cheers*

(Lil Uzi Vert comes on)

[my soul leaves my body]

Crowd=lit

Does two songs then leaves.

Tyler: Can I bring out another friend?

(not the last friend, “another” friend)

Crowd: *cheers*

(Drake comes on)

Crowd=lit

Drake: Camp Flog Gnaw this is YOUR festival, they told me to only do two songs but I’m gonna do some more for y’all.

Crowd: *cheers*

(another song later)

Drake: This is my last song!!!

(a couple songs later and several times of him saying he’s done)

Drake: Y’all want me to keep going??!!!

Crowd: NOOOOOO

Ok so now that the story is clear, Drake was not boo’d off the stage the way a lot of people think. People were antsy, confused, and the vibe was just starting to become weirder the longer he stayed on stage. In my opinion, I think this could have been easily avoided if some precautions were taken and the fault is not necessarily with the crowd but with the festival’s planning.

Allegedly, Frank Ocean was scheduled to perform and is going on an alleged festival tour. However, he cancelled and is now planning to headline at Coachella instead. Drake was a last minute replacement. 

If Tyler introduced him as his last friend, the set would have been fine. If somebody came out and told the crowd Frank Ocean was not going to come, people would have calmed down, and acted normally.

Regardless of Drake getting boo’d for “keeping it Frank”, the festival was amazing. Highlights include: Willow bringing out Jaden Smith for “Summer Time in Paris”, Syd bringing out Steve Lacy who revealed his identity through a swarovski crystal ski mask, YG bringing out Tyga, Shoreline Mafia, and Stormy Daniels herself, who said live on the mic “Fuck Donald Trump” to the thousands at his set. 

All in all, it was a beautifully orchestrated festival and to be honest, it’s kinda funny that Drizzy Drake, Champagne Papi, the 6God himself was boo’d off the stage by kids in cuffed jeans and checkered vans. Maybe it was God’s plan…
