Vince Staples could not have dropped this new track at a more opportune time. The Long Beach native has always been a controversial figure, often taking to Twitter to argue with and/or roast people who disagree with him. Needless to say, he’s a very funny and intelligent individual, who makes me proud to be from Long Beach anytime he opens his mouth. This week, in response to some hate he’s been getting for his recent live performances while on tour with Tyler, the Creator, he launched a hilariously sarcastic GoFundMe page, in which he is asking for $2 million to fund his retirement so that we never hear from him again. Either that, or you can shut the fuck up and let him do what he wants to do. On his last record, Big Fish Theory (2017), Vince allowed his experimental electronic techno influences to take the lead. While I respect the experimentation, it wasn’t exactly for me, and I recognized that. This track, his first release since that record, made me realize how much I missed Vince being his normal, vulgar self, rapping over more hard-hitting instrumentals reminiscent of some of his best tracks in the past, like “Norf Norf” and “Senorita.” The track slaps. With some great bars and flows, Vince expresses his annoyance with interviews, award shows, other rappers, and people who won’t get off his dick in general. The condom that serves as the cover art for the single is the cherry on top. Listen here. We've crossed the thousand dollar threshold! Looking at puppies as I type right now this is so exciting. — Vince Staples (@vincestaples) March 7, 2018 Why everybody playing broke right now?
