The London-based electronic music duo Snakehips brought their good vibes to the Fox Theatre on Tuesday night for the fifth show on their All Stars Tour. Snakehips has been making waves in the electronic/hip-hop scene since early 2014, finding initial success on music-sharing site Hype Machine with remixes of Banks, The Weeknd and Bondax. In late 2015, Snakehips dropped their biggest original song to date, “All My Friends” featuring Tinashe and Chance the Rapper, along with three other songs for their EP also titled All My Friends (2015). The EP featured Toronto rapper Tory Lanez and genre-defying rapper/singer Anderson .Paak, who helped bind Snakehips’ strong grasp of contemporary rap, pop and electronic styles.
Stwo, the French-native producer and DJ warmed the crowd up with some of his own remixes and throwbacks. Most notably known for his credit on Drake’s “Weston Road Flows,” the DJ dropped some crazy hip-hop/electronic mashups.
Even with the duo’s other core member, James Carter, unable to perform due to recovery from a recent surgery, Oliver Lee made sure the people got what they wanted to see (and hear). Performing hits such as “Warm Water,” “Dimelo,” “Gold,” and “Money on Me” the show had a fast-moving atmosphere with deep vibrations from the bass. He ended the show playing their #1 song, “All My Friends,” making it a great culmination of a smooth performance.
