Sampha Sisay, better known by his stage name Sampha, is one of hip-hop and R&B’s most sought after producers today. Having garnered huge recognition for his low, emotional synths, the London-based artist has collaborated with huge players in today’s contemporary music scene. The producer has been featured in collaborations with Kanye West in The Life of Pablo (2016), Drake — think “Too Much” or “The Motion” — and, most recently, on Solange’s A Seat at the Table (2016), on her track “Don’t Touch My Hair.” Sampha has also extensively collaborated with SBTRKT, another well-known electronic producer from the U.K..
The electronic artist’s soft, synth-based beats are perfectly placed. Featured vocals, from any of those in the game, take his work even further, outlining the mastered, melodic backbone he’s created. Sampha’s positive, upbeat, and dance-inducing live set will be sure to get audience members moving in San Francisco, at the cozy Swedish American Hall, this Saturday 10/29.
