Mike Rosenberg, better known by his stage name Passenger, is defined by his music’s honesty. While “Let Her Go” shot Rosenberg into worldwide fame, his realism and truthful storytelling style has continued to find its way onto stages across multiple continents and his 2014 studio album, Whispers. A low budget production with talented Newfoundland folk band, The Once, Whispers has the same not-overproduced sound found in All the Little Lights (2012), only with a wider range of instruments. Rosenberg carries this naturalness to his live shows, preferring the power of a single acoustic guitar with a voice to complicated stage set ups, presenting the songs “in a really intimate way”. And even despite his overwhelming notoriety, he still continues to busk – as he puts it, “… busking is my favorite thing to do. It’s such an honest form of playing music. It’s for everyone and it’s free. What could be better than that?” Passenger will grace the Fox stage next Thursday September 10.
