Oakland noisemakers Stillsuit and Alien Tears are teaming up tonight at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records to welcome D.C.’s Priests, who are on tour with their debut EP, Bodies and Control and Money and Power.
Priests are making press for their punchy approach to performance and politics, and also because frontwoman Katie Alice Greer–who provides lyrics and vocals–powerhouses as part of another band of garage rockers, Chain and the Gang.
With that kind of ruckus on your résumé, tonight’s show is worth a little hype. Sam Lefebvre from SF Weekly recounts the time he caught Priests at CMJ:
My memory of Priests’ performance at CMJ last year includes a whirlwind of leopard print, Greer mocking the heavy sponsorship presence at 285 Kent, and the impression afterward that my festival experience had just crested.
Show tickets for tonight are just $7 and, as usual, they’re only selling at the 1-2-3-4 Go! Records’ door. According to Steve of the store-slash-venue, you might want to get there early. The show “should be… reasonably well attended,” he told us, “so I recommend coming on time.” The gig begins at 7 p.m.
Priests and Alien Tears will also be at the Hemlock Tavern tomorrow, June 19. Either show will be a good way to pick up your week. See you there!
