On Thursday March 17th, Hiatus Kaiyote came all the way from Australia to perform at the Oakland Fox Theater, giving a rare and magical performance of a lifetime. Their jazz, funk, and soul fusion intertwined with their trippy and lively visuals had the audience mesmerized in cheers, smiles, and a never ending applause. Hearing their album Mood Valiant (2021) live felt transcendent, and their song “Red Room” had the audience swaying and singing along in awe. Through their emotive instrumental music and passionate band members, Hiatus Kaiyote had the entire crowd entranced in the dreamy, whimsical moment.
