Screaming fans and the melodic tunes of indie rock and blues only begin to describe Hozier‘s performance at the Greek. Anticipation was high, fans were pushed against the barricade and and some showcased totems alluding to some of Hozier’s most memorable lines. We spotted a mid-length brown wig in the crowd and a sign that read, “Take me to church, Irishman.” The charming Irishman played not only the strings of his guitar, but also the heartstrings of all of his listeners. A troop of girls dressed in black and red plaid jackets shouted in unison to Hozier’s lyrics, showing their level of dedication. The night closed with Hozier’s now-classic “Take Me to Church,” which convinced the now-spent dedicated fans to stick around for the encore.
