Australian producer and musician Flume camped out in San Francisco for three nights as crowds trudged through dense bass, making their way in and out of the Civic Center. Flume has been preforming for the majority of the year on part of his World Tour.
With the dim of the lights and the drop of 7 illuminated cubes, Flume ruthlessly dropped hit after hit. Alternating between Skin (2014) and Flume (2012 Debut), Flume drove through his essential tracks like “Insane,” “Drop The Game,” and “Smoke and Retribution.” Certain fan favorites peaked out like the popular remix of Lorde’s “Tennis Courts.” He also did not stay with his traditional set-list style that usually links his own songs via passive transitions. He ventured away from his own music and brought in some surprising remixes of tracks by RL Grime and Porter Robinson. Given the narrow realm of ground breaking remixes that have emerged from Flume’s creative eye (hint hint: “You and Me”), this could lead to some excellent middle-of-the-year songs as we patiently wait for the next full length studio album. With the final melody and burst of light to conclude “Say It,” Flume immediately cleared the stage after a very quick, but effective, hour long set.
Flume is continuing his tour into New Years Eve, ending with a headlining performance at the Lake Tahoe festival, SnowGlobe.
