Floating on the Pink Moon: Pink Sweat$ at the Regency Ballroom

Starting the Nov. 9 show off, opening act Kirby strutted in, backed up by an incredible drum solo in a stunning silver sparkly outfit that shined the opening act. After what felt like forever, the star himself, Pink Sweat$, opened up with “Magic,” a song from his newest album Pink Planet (2021) that was filled with a jazz undertone by the amazing bass guitarist, that set the energetic tone for the night. His trendy green blazer on top of his pink tie was matched with pink pants, that was illuminated by pink lights around the stage. Clapping along, the audience sang along with him, chanting along “PINK MONEY” with the lyrics, “Hop out the back, that’s crazy How much that whip you got cost? Eighty?”

Surrounded by a sea of bright lights, Pink Sweat$ sang “Cocaine,” as the audience shined their flashlights which brightened the venue. At one point of the show, Pink Sweat$ asked the audience if there were any couples and sang “17” directly to a couple that stood in the middle of the ground, as they slow danced to the romantic song. His energy was so pure, genuine, energetic that was felt throughout the whole night.

For his encore song, Pink Sweat$ and his team danced to his newest single “Nothing Feels Better” (2021), throwing inflated beach balls towards the audience, uplifting the atmosphere. Last but not least, he ended off the spectacular night with “At My Worst,” that had been anticipated greatly by his fans.

As the show came to its end, I walked out feeling a sense of love and nostalgia in my heart, the feeling that I had felt when I first discovered his music in my freshman year of high school. The San Francisco show of his Pink Moon Tour was nothing short of heavenly R&B that will be remembered for times to come.
