Coming back for their sixth installation, Desert Daze is set to rock out Joshua Tree October 12th-15th. To celebrate the start of the new semester, we will be giving away tickets to the event.
The “ritual observance” lies somewhere between Burning Man with its ritualistic flare and Coachella with its star-studded lineup, featuring Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile, Iggy Pop, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
However, before the festival hits full speed, John Dwyer of Oh Sees, Troy Bootow of Death Hymn, and more will be welcoming the crowd on Thursday with intimate DJ sets complimented by the festival’s Mystic Bazaar, food, bars, and cottages. Ian Svenonius of The Makeup and Chain and the Gang will be kicking off the opening ceremonies on Friday the 13th.
In addition to the music, the festival’s “Institute of Metalphysics” Joshua Tree venue will be filled with art installations from the likes of Prescott McCarthy, Spencer Hilbert, and Meika May Ginsburg. Danny Perez, Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show, Billgazer, and more will be decorating the three outdoor stages with vivid live projections.
For a break from the music, this year’s celebration will also feature live presentations, film screenings, and metaphysical workshops scattered throughout the weekend.
