This Saturday, pop singer-songwriter Ashe will join electronic duo Louis the Child for a stop at Oakland’s Fox Theater as part of their “Last to Leave” tour. Previously best known for her vocal feature on Whethan’s “Can’t Hide,” Ashe has begun to come into her own as an artist this past year, releasing her first two singles and more collaborations with Louis the Child.
Raised in Northern California before attending from Berklee College of Music, Ashe infuses her music with a breezy Pacific vibe and the crisp voice of a trained jazz vocalist. Both of her singles feature similar bouncy, buoyant production – carefree pop with a bit of a kick – but her voice really shines on the Louis the Child slow-burner “World on Fire,” a stripped-down track off of this year’s Love is Alive EP that’s better suited for a moody night in a jazz lounge than a festival stage. “Right to It,” Ashe’s latest collaboration with the duo, is much lighter, more tropical and reminiscent of her solo tracks.
Catch Ashe in Oakland this Saturday to close out the year with some positive vibes. In case you miss her, she – along with Louis the Child and co-opener Louis Futon – will travel to Southern California next week for the final three stops on the tour.
