After a power packed weekend last week, it’s only fair that lineups have softened up a bit in the city.  However there are still plenty of great acts to see, and from a genre perspective there is a nice pallet of different electronic music coming to the clubs.  Whether you’re a trap or trance fan I got you covered on this week’s edition of Top Five.

#1 DallasK

Some may argue DallasK may not be number one act for this weekend after seeing my pick for number two, but to me DallasK is the performer to see this weekend.  He has had an incredible year, following the release of his stand-out collaboration with Tiesto “Show Me.”  Also this year he has put out a lot of records on Revealed Recordings, among them “Retrograde” and “Kaya,” and he collaborated with the Revealed label boss Hardwell to produce “Area 51.”  He has shown this year that he is a premiere headliner and he will keep you excited and guessing all night at Temple.  

#2 Nicky Romero

Nicky Romero is a staple headliner at festivals and arenas across the world.  The Protocol Recordings headman is making a stop at Ruby Skye on Saturday night and is certain to play for a packed house.  While he is one of the biggest names in dance music at this time, the price tag seems a bit inflated for this event, but if you’re a big time Nicky Romero fan don’t miss out and get tickets before they sell out.

If you need a trap and bass fix, 1015 Folsom has you covered.  Appreciation is going to be a massive show especially with heavy hitters UZ and G-Jones leading the lineup.  As usual 1015 is bringing a lot of variety to the stage, hosting 11 artists in the main room and having an additional fleet of artists performing in the side room.  If you’re tying to get ratchet or are craving some ЯЄ∆Ɫ ₮Я∆Ᵽ ϨHỊ₮ 1015 is your option this weekend.

#4 Phoria

Full Lineup: Neelix, Christopher Lawrence, Jonny Atom, Billy Horn, Iridescent

Trance is making its first appearance on the Top 5 with Ruby Skye’s Phoria event this Friday.  Headlined by trance heavyweight Neelix and underground veteran Christopher Lawrence, this show will be perfect for those looking for a more low-key electronic experience.  Expect a mature crowd and a dance floor flooded with happy and emotionally-provocative tracks.

#5 Stafford Brothers

The Stafford Brothers bring a unique perspective to big room and progressive house.  They’ve produced great dance floor and festival bangers, but they’ve made songs with TI, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross.  All of these tracks have house roots and could work well in any set.  The Australian Duo will bring an untraditional and different mix to the dance floor, and are definitely worth checking out.
