Teenagers left, right, and centre are trading guitars for turntables these days in hopes of becoming the next big thing. Having won his first DMC World Championship at age 15, Fool’s Gold founder A-Trak is both a prime model or the ultimate competition for these youth.

Since establishing Fool’s Gold, the Brooklyn-via-Montreal DJ has been at the top of his game; it’s easy to forget that Alain Macklovitch started as a fixture in the late ’90s scene. He scratched Chromeo’s first record, toured with Yeezy for four years, and partnered with Armand Van Helden to release “Barbra Streisand,” undoubtedly one of the most universally-recognized feel-good anthems of 2010.

And we can’t forget “Tuna Melt:”

Macklovitch’s is a reassuring presence in the dance scene; for many, he may not be as familiar as the frontline of EDM (think Aviicii, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, and co.) – though he should be – but he hasn’t had to make any comebacks either. A talent scout and developer as well as an entity of his own, A-Trak’s consistently on fleek.

For his second annual Gold Gone Wild tour, Macklovitch has teamed up with AraabMuzik and Ape Drums to “try out new routines” at his “six favourite clubs in North America.”

Lucky for Bay Area followers, one of these is 1015 Folsom. June 19 will mark A-Trak’s first return to the city in over two years – he last anchored SF NYE 2013. If these setlists from last year’s GGW run are any indicator, attendees this Friday will be in for a rare treat.

Here’s a track the GGW crew dropped for the occasion:
