Keys N Krates to stage a Bay Area return at the Regency tomorrow night

Toronto-based Keys N Krates are set to make an appearance at the Regency Ballroom tomorrow, February 18, as part of their month-and-a-half long tour following the January 15 release of their latest EP, Midnite Mass (2016).

Adam Tune, David Matisse, and Jr. Flo started out in 2008 as a live hip-hop band but have since evolved into something considerably more complex. Many label them as a “trap band” though just as many would argue that this is an oversimplification of their eclectic sound, which has influences ranging from jazz to drum ‘n’ bass.

In 2013, under Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records, the trio released SOLOW to critical acclaim, with the single “Treat Me Right” premiering on the venerable Annie Mac’s BBC1 radio program, receiving support from big names such as Diplo, Major Lazer, and Flosstradamus.

The group further refined their hip-hop/electronic hybrid sound with their second EP, Every Nite (2014), which has since garnered over one million plays on Soundcloud. They also collaborated with fellow Canadian Grandtheft to create the single “Keep It 100,” which has since been used in a TV ad.

Midnite Mass marks the trio’s third EP release under Dim Mak Records, and with it, their second headlining tour, featuring 32 dates throughout the US.

Tickets are still available for tomorrow’s show, which will include supporting acts Hermitude and GANZ.
