In the midst of their North American Tour and between Coachella weekends, Alt-J made a return to the Bay Area last week with a set of two shows at the Greek Theatre. With support from fellow Brits, Jungle, and local artist Tycho, both evenings were received by sold-out crowds and huge reception.

Jungle opened night one with a upbeat and bouncy set, everything desired of a supporting act in such a large venue. Before long, those initially seated around the front of the stage were up on their feet, dancing and hastily learning choruses to sing back to the band.

Unsurprisingly, Alt-J’s set did not differ drastically from the one we saw last December at Not So Silent Night. Having added a new touring member to replace bassist Gwil Sainsbury, the band still relied on a large production stage for much of the show Thursday evening; the huge backdrop of screens and lights still produced much enjoyment whether viewed from immediately in front of the stage or at the top of the majestic amphitheatre.
