In a time where much of popular music labors to be compelling, offbeat, and innovative, it is comforting to know that an artist who describes themselves as “part alien, part mime, part priestess”, is dispensing music into the world.

Marriages drummer, Andrew Clinco’s alter ego, Deb DeMure, performs in Drab Majesty as a genderless, otherworldly, almost creature-like human. For the most part, they can be seen with all white and pitch black mime-like eye makeup covering their stoic face. Deb lends somber, glossy vocals and post-punk guitar to throbbing synth and chilling keyboards to create haunting darkwave masterpieces. While originally aiming to maintain a neutral delivery of art and demonstrating, “the power in relinquishing ownership to a divine design”, as stated in their thorough biography on Facebook, Drab Majesty has adopted a sharp gothic and Bauhaus aesthetic.

Since forming around 2012, Drab Majesty has released two EP’s, “UNARIAN DANCES” in 2012 and “UNKNOWN TO THE I” in 2015. However, it was not until their LP “CARELESS” was released in June of 2015, that Drab Majesty began to truly enthrall audiences. Through their music and aesthetic, Drab Majesty creates an alternate dimension that draws you in with its gleaming neon lights while distancing you with performative ambiguity and fog machines.

Over a year later, Drab Majesty are releasing their much anticipated second LP entitled “THE DEMONSTRATION”, which is set to release January 20, 2017 on Dais Records. The first single “Cold Souls” is now available on Soundcloud and is a wonderfully dreamy, sneak peek into what Drab Majesty has in store for its audience next.
