Zach and Ben Yudin return with the second progression of their cheery surf pop sound in new album Dancing at the Blue Lagoon, two years after their debut, Bigfoot (2013). The twin brothers’ sophomore record as Cayucas is out June 23 under Secretly Canadian.

On Dancing at the Blue Lagoon, the Yudin brothers take a step forward, creating the same beautiful, acoustic, and  sun-kissed Southern California sound they produced in their debut. It makes you want to drop everything you’re doing and head straight for the beach. While the band stayed loyal to the simple tropical melodies of Bigfoot, the flagship songs of the new album show a new layer of depth. Zach spends more time doing the vocals himself and exploring the limits of his voice while Ben keeps the summer vibes strong with rolling surf-like bass groves. The familiar feelings of high school nostalgia brought out in Bigfoot give way to the feelings of leaving home and discovering the surrounding world in this new album.

The single “Moony Eyed Walrus” gives a glimpse at the old Northern California home of the twins. Its video, filmed in the forests of Big Sur, captures the beauty and mystery of the band’s home while this perfect summer song incorporates rolling melodies and ear grabbing energy. Other songs like “Hella” and “A Shadow in the Dark” hold the same infectious energy that gets you dancing and chanting alon;. “Dancing at the Blue Lagoon” is the song you would expect to hear around a bonfire as your day comes to a close, with nothing but smiling faces to round out the album.

A summer get-away record, Dancing at the Blue Lagoon album can be played in the background in your car to lighten up the days just as seamlessly as one can take an hour to closely listen to the fun loving stories the Yudin brothers tell. You will be pleasantly satisfied either way.
